Welcome! I’m Kim!
I’m a wife and a mom to a preemie.
I’m lucky to say I’m married to my high school sweetheart. My husband and I always knew we wanted to have a family we just never knew it would take us 3 years and a miscarriage.
I am a mom to identical twin girls Emerson and Finley who were born at 25 weeks due to preeclampsie and sIUGR. After four days of fighting Finley gained her angel wings. Emerson stayed in the NICU for a total of 162 days.
Becoming a mom especially to a micro preemie who was born 15 weeks early and my surviving twin my world was rocked upside down. There was no way I could have ever prepared myself for the next several months ahead.
Why The Preemie Mom?
Now that my daughter is home from the NICU I’m ready to share my experience with other mama’s out there. I hope my advice and tips can help someone who like me at one point was clueless to preemie-hood, and is still clueless at times being a first time mom.
When I was thrown into the NICU life I had nobody I could go to for advice. That is when the blog was created. Being a mom especially to a preemie is a challenging, emotional but rewarding experience. I wanted to build a space where mom’s could go to for advice, encouragement, and a friend not just for preemie-hood but also motherhood.
I hope at times I can make you smile, even laugh but most of all relate to being a mom.
